Motionize

Motionize is a plug-in for Adobe Illustrator that exports a selected shape, path, compound shape, compound path or grouping comprised of any of these types to an Apple Motion path or group. Download Motionize at my Shoptly.com store!

Motion does not support compound paths. However, using masks Motion can emulate  compound shape structures used in Illustraton.

  1. Hey Scott!

Brilliant stuff, thanks! I’m curious if it’s likely you could also make this work for Affinity Design? Or is it something the Affinity people would have to work out on their end? Just because I see more and more people trying to get away from anything Adobe (such as myself) if at all possible, and the Affinity apps are by far the best alternative to Illustrator and/or Photoshop.

    Cheers,
    Robin

    1. Peer, thank you for showing interest in iDraw support. Motionize is an ongoing project to be sure. The plan was to release early 2015 but as we’re in May that’s unlikely. It is still in development, gets daily attention and is high on the priority list. So please stay tuned and as always, thank you for your interest!

  2. Great to hear that you are working for an iDraw plugin version of your script. Would really like to see it working for iDraw so I can get some shapes into Motion 5 🙂

Will it work with iDraw version 2.5 (current as of Jan 2015)?

BTW, the current script for AI:
Does it work on both Mac and Windows Platform?
Which is the minimum version for both the Mac and Windows Platform?

I tried it with an old version of AI I had – AI v10 on Windows. Did not work!
I manually placed the script inside the Script folder, but did not work. Did not even appear inside AI menu for Scripts.

Anyhow, please release a version for iDraw!

    Keep up the good work!

    Regards

    Lars

    1. Lars, thanks for the kind words and support. The new version will work with iDraw and Illustrator. Motionize hasn’t been tested on a Windows platform since the intended target is Macintosh specific software. As such it’s unlikely Windows testing will take place (no Windows machines in the development environment). Should Apple release Motion for Windows then it’s likely testing for Windows will take place. It’s possible there will be an online version in the future as well—likely only supporting common file formats (PDF, SVG, EPS).
